Frequently Asked Questions

How do I care for my candle?

  • When lighting your candle for the first time, burn the candle for at least 1 to 1.5 hours, so the candle melts equally across the entire surface to the side of the vessels. Lighting for less time can cause the candle to "tunnel," leading to wax build-up around the jar. Always burn within sight. Do not leave burning candles unattended or lit while sleeping.
  • Use the Lazy Royal candle lid provided to extinguish the candle; this prevents smoking and ensures the candle is completely out with no glow present at the wick.
  • Do not burn your candle for longer than 3 hrs at a time. This helps to preserve the fragrance.
  • Do not burn your candle all the way down. Always leave at least ½ inch of non-molten wax at the bottom.
  • Do not touch or move the candle when burning. Avoid moving candles when the wax has melted until it has thoroughly cooled.
  • Extinguish the candle if it smokes, flickers or if the flame is too high. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, then check for drafts before relighting.

How should I trim my wick?

  • Make sure to trim the wick to 1/4" before each burn (except the first burn) and remove any mushrooming that occurs on the wick.
  • If soot forms on the sides of the jar, extinguish the candle, wait for it to cool and clean the sides with a damp cloth. Trim the wick and relight!
  • Please keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.

Where should I light my candle?

  • Keep your candle at an ideal location where it cannot be knocked over. Make sure the surface is even and away from children or pets.
  • Burn in desired space for at least 30 minutes. Be cautious of open windows and doors since it will disperse the scent.
  • Always store your candles in a cool, dark and dry place. Avoid placing your candles where they will be directly exposed to sunlight or harsh indoor lighting.
  • Avoid placing candles near anything that can catch on fire, such as draperies, books, loose fabric etc.
  • Light your candle away from drafts or vents; this can cause fast or uneven burning and soot stains (black marks on the candle jar).
